VILLEM SÜVARI

trumpet

Villem (b. 1999) is one of the founding members of Tuulisbrass. Villem's music studies began at the age of 7 at the Nõmme Music School in the piano class of Helve Kuuskmann, later trumpet studies were added under the supervision of Aigar Kostabi. In 2015-2020 he studied in the trumpet class of Indrek Vau at Tallinn Music High School and Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre. Since 2020, he has been a student of the trumpet class of professor Martin Wagemann at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz (Austria). Villem has won first places in national competitions for young musicians. Villem has participated in the activities of several youth orchestras and also in the projects of ERSO, Tallinn Chamber Orchestra, Corelli Baroque Orchestra, Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, and Baltic Sea Philharmonic Orchestra.

NIKITA MATSUK

French horn

Nikita (b. 2003) joined Tuulisbrass in 2019. He began his French horn studies at the age of 7 at Nõmme Music School, where he was supervised by Vigo Uusmäe. Nikita has been studying at Tallinn Music High School since 2011, his teachers are Kalle Koppel and Kalervo Kulmala. Nikita has successfully participated in national youth competitions. He also plays in the Estonian Youth Wind Orchestra, the Nõmme Music School Symphony Orchestra and the Tallinn Music High School Symphony Orchestra. He has also participated in a project of Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.

KARL ABRO

Karl (b. 1999) is one of the founding members of Tuulisbrass. Karl started his music studies at the age of 11 at Nõmme Music School under the supervision of Aigar Kostabi. From 2018, Karl continues his euphonium studies at EAMT, where his teacher is Madis Vilgats. Karl is also learning the trombone, supervised by Andres Kontus. Karl is one of the carriers of the organizational side of the ensemble, he is also already a teacher and practices as a conductor of a wind orchestra. Karl has won first places in national competitions for young musicians. He also plays in the Estonian Youth Wind Orchestra, the Nõmme Music School Symphony Orchestra and the EAMT Brass Ensemble. Karl has participated in the projects of the Police and Border Guard Orchestra and the Estonian National Male Choir.

Toomas Oskar Kahur

Toomas Oskar (b. 2001) is one of the founding members of Tuulisbrass. He began his music studies at the age of 15 at Nõmme Music School under the supervision of Aigar Kostabi. Toomas Oskar successfully completed the school's 7-year program in three years. Since 2017, he has been studying in the tuba class of Madis Vilgats at the G. Ots Music School. As a versatile musician, Toomas Oskar makes arrangements for the quintet if necessary, and he is also the author of all kinds of musical ideas, including the name of the ensemble. Toomas Oskar has won first places in national competitions for young musicians. Toomas Oskar plays in the Estonian Youth Wind Orchestra and the Nõmme Music School Symphony Orchestra. In 2020, Toomas Oskar was chosen to participate in the TV round of the competition "Classical Stars".

MARTEN MÄNNA

Marten (b. 2006) joined Tuulisbrass in 2020. He began his drumming career at the age of 2 when he built himself the first set of drums from shashlik buckets. At the age of 8, he entered the drum class of Madis Kaupmehe in Tabasalu Music School, where he has also been taught by Klaas Schippers. Marten's current teacher is Karl Helmeste. Marten has successfully participated in regional and national youth competitions. In addition, his interests extend beyond the world of music - in Tuulisbrass he is one of the audio and video technicians.

ABOUT

Brass ensemble Tuulisbrass is a music collective founded in September 2016 by Estonian young brass players. During the weekly intensive rehearsals and under the guidance of several brilliant instructors, the list of the ensemble's repertoire has become long and varied - the program includes classical and festive music, pop and jazz music, marches and folk songs.

Tuulisbrass has about 20 performances each season. We have performed at various events and concerts in different parts of Estonia, Åland and northern Finland. Performances have been in churches, concert halls, open-air stages as well as in parties and pubs.

The members of the ensemble are studying at Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre, Tallinn Music High School, G. Ots Music School of Tallinn, University of Music and Performing Arts Graz and Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.

The ensemble's musical activities are supervised by István Baráth.
